Autodesk Alias 2025 Full Version presents the Custom Puck, offering a novel method for both novice and experienced users to access often-utilized tools, editors, menu items, and navigation controls. The puck is entirely customizable, enabling you to incorporate and arrange tools according to your requirements.

The Custom Puck has several advantages:

    • Access tools, shelves, options, navigation, and marking menus with a single hotkey. For instance, you can utilize tumble, pan, zoom, and all your marking selections without the necessity of employing various clutch-key combinations.
    • Minimized mouse movement, particularly when utilizing large displays, enhances productivity efficiency.
    • Maximizes screen real estate for modeling and other activities by minimizing the quantity of floating and docked windows required in the viewport. All necessary tools and options are now readily accessible from the Custom Puck.
    • Consolidates fundamental tools and options in a single spot, enhancing the intuitiveness of Autodesk Alias Final Version for novice and casual users.
  • Accessing the Custom Puck:

Similar to marking menus, the Custom Puck appears at the cursor’s location upon activation. Accessing the Custom Puck can be achieved through two methods:

    • Depressing the Z key.
    • Press the B key to alternate the visibility of the puck.
  • Concerning the Custom Puck:

The Custom Puck comprises a central component, an inner ring, and one or several outer rings. Clicking an arrow on the inner ring’s perimeter reveals the outside rings. Switch between several outer rings by selecting the numerical icons at the bottom. For instance, 1/2 signifies that you are presenting one of two external menus.

By default, the puck center is partitioned into an upper and lower half.

  • Move the upper part to alternate between the inner ring menus. A mouse wheel can also be utilized to navigate between menus.
  • Select the lower part to access the viewport navigation controls. For instance, use the left mouse button (LMB) to tumble, the middle mouse button (MMB) to pan, and the right mouse button (RMB) to zoom.

The inner ring menu may, by default, accommodate a maximum of eight items along its circle. Any supplementary objects incorporated in the inner ring are exhibited in an overflow section just beneath the puck. The maximum allowable increment for this quantity is 12 in the Custom Puck Preferences.

The center can be subdivided into a tertiary part that facilitates access to Marking Menus by the LMB, MMB, and RMB. Enable the Marking Menu shown in the Custom Puck Preferences to access the Marking Menu.

  • Customizing the puck:

The inner and outer ring menus are, by default, packed with tools and settings for curves, subdivision modeling, and visualization. The Custom Puck Editor, accessible via Preferences > Custom Puck Editor, allows for the customization of both the inner and outer rings.

The procedure for personalizing the puck resembles the modification of custom tool palettes. To incorporate an inner ring menu, access the Custom Puck Editor and establish a new tab within the Custom Puck Data shelf. Utilize the middle mouse button to drag tools and menu items to populate the new menu, similar to the method employed with custom shelves. Create a new tab to add outer rings, then rename the tab with the term “Outer” followed by a descriptive name that signifies the menu’s contents. If “Outer” is absent from the tab’s name, the ring is displayed as an inner ring.

Support for Universal Scene Description (USD) File Format:

Autodesk Alias 2025 Full Version incorporates USD (Universal Scene Description) as a supplementary file import and export format. Utilize the USD format to enhance data interoperability and facilitate collaborative efforts.

USD was created by Pixar to enhance collaboration and permit the interchange of diverse data kinds. In addition to the base .usd format (either ASCII or binary), Autodesk Alias Full Version also accommodates format variants, including .usda (ASCII), .usdc (binary), and .usdz (uncompressed zip archive).

Upon export, NURBS and subdivision geometry are immediately transformed into mesh data, utilizing the same tessellation as Alias Hardware Shade. The USD additionally offers the following:

    • The names and hierarchy of objects are maintained (Refer to Prepare .wire files for USD export below).
    • Importation and exportation of perspective and orthographic cameras.
    • Importation of various popular light kinds, including ambient, spot, area, directional, and point lights. Dome and disk lights are not eligible for importation.
    • Upon importing USD, shaders and materials are configured to the Diffuse Color option. Shader names are retained, allowing you to utilize the Replace Shader by Name feature to reallocate these shaders from your designated shader library.
  • Preparing .wire files for USD exportation:

Before exporting your .wire files to USD, take into account the following:

    • Shading and Textures:

Objects with textures solely exhibit the present Diffuse Color in USD. To more accurately replicate the original texture’s color, adjust the Diffuse Color to match the dominant hue of the given texture.

For objects rendered with metallic materials, shift the Specular Color value to the Diffuse Color. This will yield an improved color match for the metallic material in USD.

    • Arrangement of objects:

Reconstruct your layer hierarchy with groups instead of layers and layer directories. Be cognizant that certain grouped objects in Full Version Autodesk Alias may be associated with two distinct levels.

New Bridge Fillet Tool:

A new Bridge Fillet tool has been introduced, enabling the creation of circular fillets between three surfaces or sets of surfaces with tangent continuity to all three. These can be automatically cut to establish a seamless flow of surfaces.

Novel Gap Analysis Instrument:

A novel Gap Check instrument enables the measurement of intervals between designated surfaces. The instrument employs a guide curve to assess the interstice between surfaces, subsequently presenting the maximum and minimum gap values on a comb finder.

  • Enhancements to Dynamo Player:

The visibility of Dynamo Player tool window items in Autodesk Alias Final Version may now be controlled from the Dynamo side. Consequently, if a specific option in the script is activated, unnecessary input elements can be eliminated from the user interface, thereby enhancing the usability of the scripts.

  • Updates for Dynamo Toolbox:

The Dynamo Toolbox has been reorganized to restrict the number of scripts per tab. This facilitates the identification of the scripts you wish to utilize. This enhancement also encompasses modifications to the organization of scripts within the toolbox tabs. New File Import and Export sections have been incorporated for all pertinent scripts. Certain existing scripts, including the Import CSV File as Polyline and Export to TSM scripts, are now situated there. We have developed new scripts for import and export, available in the new section. We have introduced General Edit and Subdivision Edit tabs, relocating all scripts that alter geometry rather than generate it to these new areas.

  • New Dynamo Player scripts:
    • File Importation and Exportation:

We have developed scripts for importing.TSS, .TSM, and .SAT files, in addition to scripts for exporting.TSS and .SAT files. The current export TSM has been revised to function identically to the new versions, all of which now manage automated file name extensions (.tss, .tsm, .sat), if necessary.

    • General:

Mirror-by-Object(s)-2025.0.1-mrbobj.dyn and Mirror-by-Plane-2025.0.1-mrbpln.dyn are scripts that reflect input geometry across a specified planar surface. This approach is more straightforward than the native Alias mirroring tools. The mirror planes in this instance deviate from the conventional orientations (XY, YZ, XZ).

  • Enhancements to Dynamo Player scripts:
    • General:

Manikin 2023.1.1.90-mankn.dyn – Enhanced overall morphology and incorporated the following controls: male and female body shape types, and neck adjustments. You may now align some body components using geometric concepts, such as planes and points.

    • Designing patterns:
      • NURBS Hexagon Pattern 2021.2.9-nr hxg.dyn – Minimum and maximum values for certain parameters now exert an increased effect. In earlier versions, modifications to the Min and Max parameters frequently yielded no discernible effects.
      • Place and Scale by Picture 2025.0.16 – Resolved a problem where individual curve inputs frequently malfunctioned.
Improvements to Checkpoints and Introduction of New Incremental Save:

The Checkpoint Autosave box has been redesigned to facilitate the management of your model’s iterations. An innovative Increment Save function enables rapid incremental file saving with personalized naming conventions.

  • Enhancements to Shader Lister:

We have implemented rapid-access updates to the Shader Lister to enhance your shading process efficiency. These enhancements encompass:

    • Access to remove unused shaders from the icon bar. This option was formerly accessible solely through the Shader Lister More menu.
Markup Brush Improvements:

A Predictive Stroke feature has been incorporated for all Markup brushes and erasers. This option enhances the quality of your strokes by rendering them more consistent and fluid. It is particularly advantageous for rendering straight lines, circles, or ellipses, and for expeditious drawing with a mouse.

When Predictive Stroke is activated, utilize the new Predictive Strength slider to adjust the degree of smoothing applied to your stroke. A higher number indicates a smoother stroke and improved shape identification.

Enhancements in CATIA and FBX Import:

The option to Replace Shaders by Name has been incorporated into CATIA V5 and FBX file format imports. This option functions identically with these formats as it does with .wire file imports. Replace Shaders by Name enables the substitution of incoming shaders with those located in the designated User Library Location.

The Replace Shader by Name function operates exclusively with shaders that share identical names. By default, when importing objects, any incoming shaders that share names with existing shaders are renamed by inserting a # suffix to their names. This prevents naming conflicts among shaders. Instead, you can merge incoming shaders with existing shaders that share the same base name by enabling Ignore # Suffixes.

Recently Supported File Formats:

Autodesk Alias 2025 Full Version introduces newly supported versions for import and export file formats.

The updates encompass the following:
